Bringing the Coke but saving on gas

The Midwest Coca-Cola Bottling Co. in Eagan will be using 10 new hybrid trucks to deliver its bottled products as part of the company's energy-saving efforts.

Coca-Cola spokesman Kevin Morris said the hybrids are expected to begin delivering within a week and that the company plans to eventually add more of the 10-bay, 24-foot trucks to its fleet. The Eagan facility delivers more than 18 million cases of products each year to its local customers.

Coca-Cola and other soft-drink companies have been under fire recently for the environmental impact of their bottled products, in particular water bottles.

M&I Bank working to fight identity theft

M&I Bank in Shakopee is helping people learn how to avoid being victims of identity theft. Local community members went to the bank recently to learn how to safely recycle sensitive documents. The Shakopee branch, as well as the one in Maple Grove, also offered free document shredding and disposal. An industrial-sized precision shredder shredded about 18,500 pounds of paper between the two locations.
