The next major traffic disruption in the south metro starts this week.

Beginning Tuesday, traffic on Interstate 35 will throttle back to one lane in each direction, and the state is predicting "significant delays."

It does promise that "no two adjacent intersections will be closed simultaneously."

From this week through November, northbound and southbound traffic on 35 between County Road 2 near Elko New Market to County Road 70 in Lakeville will be moved to the same side of the road and remain a single lane in each direction.

Starting Sept. 23, the single lane will extend northward to County Road 50. And there will be ramp closures within that project area from time to time.

An example, beginning Sept. 23, is the closure of the 185th Street/County Road 60 ramp to northbound I-35 in Lakeville. The suggested route is 50.

In addition, the northbound I-35 ramp to 50 will close. The alternate is 185th Street/County Road 60.
