The fire that engulfed an SUV Wednesday morning in Bloomington, killing the driver, is being linked to an open can of gasoline inside the vehicle.

The blaze occurred shortly after 8 a.m. Wednesday on northbound Old Cedar Avenue just south of 86th Street, about a quarter-mile west of a fire station, police said.

After police and fire personnel doused the flames of the fully engulfed vehicle, they found one person dead in the driver's seat.

They also found an open gasoline can in the passenger compartment.

The victim's name was being withheld pending notification of family.
