Authorities on Tuesday identified the woman who died when the car she was riding in struck a tow truck that failed to yield while turning at an intersection in Savage.

The collision shortly after noon Monday killed Maria M. Mendez, 68, according to the State Patrol. The patrol did not have her city of residence.

Three others in the car sustained noncritical injuries, the patrol added. The truck's driver, Robert M. McGinley, 37, of Bloomington, was not hurt.

According to the patrol:

The tow truck was at a yield sign and made a left turn from westbound Hwy. 13 onto southbound Dakota Avenue. The car, driven by 16-year-old Jacqueline A. Levvintre, was heading east on Hwy. 13 and struck the tow truck.

The truck's driver failed to yield to the car, the patrol said.

All occupants of both vehicles were wearing seat belts, the patrol said.
