Anyone who lives or works in Dakota County has been invited to take an online health survey intended to point out the health issues of greatest concern to the community and to help develop health priorities for the county.

The survey, at www.surveymonkey.com/s/DakotaSurvey, has been posted since April 1 and will be open until Friday.

The survey asks for opinions on such issues as access to medical and dental services, disease in the community, the health of babies and children, alcohol and tobacco use, and environmental issues.

"We have received over 1,100 responses to the survey at this point,'' said Melanie Countryman, an epidemiologist for Dakota County Public Health. "We were hoping to get 1,000, so we've exceeded our expectations.''

With the information collected from the survey and through work with community agencies, the county expects to have a plan for addressing priorities by August 2014.
