A car rear-ended a semitrailer truck southwest of Belle Plaine, killing an 84-year-old Brooklyn Center woman in the smaller vehicle and seriously injuring its driver, authorities said.
The crash occurred about 2:25 p.m. Wednesday along northbound Hwy. 169, just north of Le Sueur and about 10 miles from Belle Plaine, according to the State Patrol.
The identity of the woman killed has yet to be released. The patrol identified the car's driver as Marcia Vahl, 61, of Maple Grove. She was being treated at Le Sueur Hospital.
Semi driver Lonnie Heidegger, 35, of New Germany, Minn., was unhurt in the collision on what the patrol described as a wet highway.
