District 199 is proposing moving its early childhood programs to a new 11,000-square-foot facility to be built on the Hilltop Elementary campus at a cost of $2.5 million.

Currently the district houses these programs in a leased South St. Paul space called Family Connections, which it shares with the South St. Paul School District.

The proposed new facility, to be added onto the northwest corner of Hilltop Elementary, would have a door that connects to the existing school as well as its own main entrance.

The project would be built with funds from the same program used to lease the current space. The district expects its programs to move to the new space in the spring of 2014.
