NORTHFIELD

Huge book sale is back next week

The 52nd-annual Great Northfield Book Raid, a book sale that raises money for the Northfield Hospital Auxiliary, will offer 220 banquet tables full of used books on just about every topic next week at the Northfield Ice Arena.

The sale is from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday through April 26, and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 27. April 26 is half-price day, and books will be sold for $4 a bag on the morning of April 26. On the afternoon of April 26, books are free.

More than 300 volunteers will organize the offerings, which also include collectors' editions, videos and books on tape.

In its history, the book fair has raised close to a half a million dollars, which has gone toward medical services such as the Breast Care Center and the Cancer Care and Infusion Center, defibrillators and chemotherapy pumps, books for newborns, and scholarships for those going into health care professions, among other things, according to a news release from Northfield Hospitals & Clinics. This year's proceeds will help fund the Cancer Care and Infusion Center.

The ice arena is at 1280 Hwy. 3. For more information on the sale, see www.startribune.com/a2166.
