The Prior Lake-Savage School Board is considering asking voters three different ballot questions in November. Each question would provide funds for five years, and not ask voters for an annual inflationary increase. The first question would ask voters to renew the levy support that the district now receives, about $7 million annually. The second question would ask voters to provide about $210 more per pupil in operating funds to open Redtail Ridge Elementary in Savage, a brand new elementary school that will sit empty during the 2008-09 school year because the district lacks the funds to open it. This would provide about $1.64 million annually. It will take an estimated $1.4 million to open Redtail Ridge, which would help lower elementary school class sizes. The third question would ask voters for about $40 extra per pupil in operating funds, likely to be used hire more teachers to lower class sizes. This could provide an estimated extra quarter of a million dollars, although final numbers are not available.
