A 19-year-old Faribault, Minn., man and a 36-year-old Owatonna, Minn., woman are being held in the Dakota County Jail pending possible charges.
Police said Thursday that they have arrested two suspects in the April 5 hit-and-run death of a man in the parking lot of the Event Center in Burnsville.
A 19-year-old Faribault, Minn., man and a 36-year-old Owatonna, Minn., woman were arrested Wednesday and are being held in the Dakota County Jail pending possible charges to be filed by noon today, said police spokesman Sgt. Dan Carlson.
He said it appears that the suspects didn't know the victim, Carlos Noriega, 22, of Prior Lake. He was found with fatal head injuries outside the Event Center, near Hwy. 13 and Cliff Road.
Officers were called to the Event Center just after 2 a.m. on that Saturday on a report that someone had been run over by a vehicle after a fight or disturbance of some kind in the parking lot.
Police found Noriega unresponsive; he died later at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.
Officers said it appeared that Noriega was walking to his truck in the parking lot when he was struck by a speeding vehicle, possibly driven by someone fleeing the disturbance.
