The driver of a rental truck killed Friday night in an accident in the Mall of America parking lot was identified Sunday as Raheem Aaron Waheed.

The 52-year-old man, who authorities said had no permanent address, died after he did not heed a height warning at the entrance to the West parking lot, and drove a U-Haul truck into an area too low for the vehicle.

Just inside the entrance, Waheed struck a concrete-and-steel support beam, which fell on the cab, crushing it, according to Bloomington police.

Two others in the truck suffered noncritical injuries.

The Hennepin County medical examiner's office, which released Waheed's name on Sunday, said the cause and manner of his death are still to be determined.

Public records indicated Waheed lived in Duluth for a time.

Police have said the incident was an accident.

Vehicles that exceed the ramp's height limit get tapped by a hanging device as they approach the lot, but Waheed might not have been aware of that, police said.

Structural engineers examined the area after the accident and determined that the lot was safe for use.
