Lakeville police said authorities Thursday morning tracked down a 15-year-old girl and her father, twice convicted for a sex crime, who had been unaccounted for since Monday.
The father, Shon Davy, is in being held in the Dakota County jail on suspicion of felony deprivation of parental rights, police said. The girl was unharmed.
Shon Davy failed to return his daughter on Monday after visitation, police said.
Citizens spotted the two about 7:30 a.m. walking from bathroom facilities of a Lake Elmo restaurant and recognized them from television reports about the father and daughter, said Lakeville Police Chief Tom Vonhof.
The citizens notified the State Patrol, and a trooper took in the girl and detained the father, the chief added. The girl was then returned to her mother.
In a statewide crime alert issued Wednesday, police said they were concerned for the girl's well-being because Shon Davy was convicted in Ramsey County in 1995 and 1998 for second- and third-degree criminal sexual conduct. He also requires a personal care attendant for medical needs.
