Two people died Wednesday night in separate accidents on Minnesota roads, authorities said Thursday.
A 91-year-old driver turned at a Prior Lake intersection and died after a broadside collision with another car, authorities said Thursday.
Florence L. Bothof, 91, of Prior Lake, was involved in the crash shortly after 5:30 p.m. Wednesday on Hwy. 13 at Franklin Trail, according to the State Patrol.
Bothof suffered injuries and then a fatal cardiac arrest related to the collision, said Patrol Lt. Craig Isaacson.
According to the patrol:
Bothof was driving her car south on Hwy. 13 and was struck while turning left onto Franklin Trail by a car driven by Cathy R. Brown, of Prior Lake. Both vehicles then banged into a third car, which was sitting at a stop sign at the intersection.
The other two drivers and a passenger in the third vehicle suffered noncritical injuries.
In Sherburne County, a 61-year-old Clear Lake Township man died when his car ended up in the Elk River in Clear Lake Township.
According to Sheriff Joel Brott, a passerby discovered Roger Petron's vehicle partly submerged and on its roof in the river. Sheriff's divers found Petron dead inside. The accident remains under investigation.
