A 17-year-old boy draped in a blanket and standing on a southwest metro highway was fatally run over by a semitrailer truck on Thursday morning, authorities said.
Andrew Mulville was wrapped in a dark-colored blanket when he was struck and killed on Hwy. 212 near Reform Street in Norwood Young America, according to the State Patrol. The incident occurred shortly after 7 a.m., just before sunrise.
Stopping short of saying that the Norwood Young America teen committed suicide, patrol Lt. Eric Roeske said that it appeared that the boy "walked into the roadway under his own will."
The truck driver did not see the teen, Roeske added, and the patrol has found no witnesses to the crash.
The patrol had said soon after the crash that the teen was lying in the road. Roeske said that initial information was incorrect because of miscommunication among patrol members.
The truck driver, Harold R. Schroeder, 55, of Gibbon, Minn., was uninjured, the patrol said.
