Both directions of Highway 169 in Bloomington and Edina, as well as all loops and ramps connecting it to Interstate 494, will reopen by 1:30 p.m. Sunday, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The highway was closed at Interstate 494 at 10 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17 so crews could place beams for a new bridge from westbound I-494 to southbound Hwy 169. It had been scheduled to reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, Feb. 20, but favorable weather and other good conditions led to the early reopening.
The Highway 169/I-494 interchange reconstruction project includes turning the current expressway into a freeway by rebuilding the interchange with six ramps instead of eight. The project removes traffic signals, reduces congestion and improves safety.
