A former south-metro school janitor who pleaded guilty to possessing pornography must serve 15 months in jail and 30 years of probation in Dakota County.

Thomas Scott Wagner, 57, of Lake Elmo, had worked until last May in the West St. Paul-Mendota Heights-Eagan School District.

He recently pleaded guilty in Dakota County District Court to seven felony counts of possession of pornographic work involving minors, punishable by up to five years' imprisonment and a fine of $1,500 to $5,000.

According to a criminal complaint, police searched his apartment and vehicles about a year ago. In his computers were 1,300 graphic images and 10 videos. The images were sent to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which indicated that 119 photos and three videos contained identified child victims engaged in sexual performance, the complaint says.

Thursday, Judge Richard Spicer also listed conditions that Wagner must follow, including completing sex offender treatment, no possession of pornography, submitting to random drug testing and searches, and no contact with people under age 18 unless he's received prior approval from his probation officer.

Spicer also banned Wagner from having a relationship with any woman who has a child or children living with her, unless that situation also is approved by Wagner's probation officer.
