YOUR GUIDE TO THE TWIN CITIES

A former insurance agent has admitted that he falsified information to get better rates for customers in Mendota Heights.
Charles B. Borrell, 31, of Shakopee was charged with two counts of insurance fraud a year ago after the Minnesota Department of Commerce determined that he misrepresented terms of at least 58 policies from October 2006 through December 2007.
Borrell turned in incorrect addresses, birth dates and Social Security numbers. He misrepresented the age of a dwelling's electrical system, conditions of a dwelling, rating of roofs, vehicle identification numbers and the number of miles that customers drove, according to a complaint in Dakota County District Court.
On Tuesday, Borrell pleaded guilty to both gross misdemeanor counts. Judge Joseph Carter ordered him to serve 20 days in jail and two years on probation and pay restitution, yet to be determined. His employer, Farmers Insurance, estimated its losses at $15,764.
The Commerce Department has revoked Borrell's license to sell insurance or real estate.
