Police say that when surveillance images of the robber were broadcast, multiple callers identified the suspect

Police from multiple agencies nabbed an Albert Lea man suspected of at least seven armed robberies at businesses throughout the metro.

Dane Robert Nelson, 20, was arrested Thursday night at his father's home in Albert Lea after multiple people saw surveillance images of the robberies on television and tipped off authorities, said Bloomington Police Cmdr. Mark Stehlik.

Nelson is charged so far with one count of aggravated robbery. He was in the Hennepin County Jail on Friday, with bail set at $200,000. Additional charges are expected.

According to charges filed by Bloomington police, Nelson robbed Bobby and Steve's Auto World gas station at 7920 France Av. S. on Dec. 4. The clerk later identified Nelson in a photo lineup. Charges say that when Nelson was arrested he was wearing a coat that matched the clerk's description of the robber's coat.

Police suspect him in connection with similar robberies in Edina, South St. Paul, Minneapolis and Richfield.

Know Name Records, 6009 Portland Av. S. in Minneapolis, was among two stores robbed twice. Owner Bruce Benson said that in both robberies the robber entered between 6 and 7 p.m. while customers were in the store.
