A 49-year-old woman torched her Apple Valley home Thursday morning while her husband was inside, and she sat in a vehicle near the blaze and stabbed herself in the chest with a screwdriver, according to authorities.
Police were called about 9:15 a.m. to the fire in the 4700 block of W. 142nd Street, prompting the woman to flee. After her vehicle was stopped in Eagan, she was taken to Regions Hospital in St. Paul with stab wounds and burns, police said.
Eagan police put down spikes on Pilot Knob Road near Cliff Road, disabling the woman's vehicle. Officers approached the vehicle and saw the woman using a hammer to pound the screwdriver into her chest, according to police.
