YOUR GUIDE TO THE TWIN CITIES
Farmington City Council members have decided to put the "For Sale" sign back up on the old Rambling River senior center building at 431 3rd St.
A local buyer agreed to buy the property last year, but the deal didn't come together fast enough for anxious council members, said City Administrator Peter Herlofsky.
Last year, city officials relocated the senior center from the building to the old city hall site at 325 Oak St.
The move provided more space for users and an escape from a mold problem at the old facility.
The council did not set a timeline for selling the building, Herlofsky said.
Staff members at the LeDuc Historic Estate are seeking entries for the "Historic Hastings LeDuc Photo Competition."
Dakota County Historical Society officials will feature the five winning photographs on postcards sold at the estate's museum store and at the Lawshe Memorial Museum.
Winners will take home a prize package valued at more than $90 that includes a family membership to the historical society.
The competition is open to professional and amateur photographers. Artists will retain the copyrights on all submitted work, organizers said.
Submissions are due by Sept. 30. Visit the historic society website at www.dakotahistory.org for a submission form and complete contest rules.
Public access to wireless Internet is spreading in Dakota County buildings.
Free wireless is now available in the atrium areas at the Administration Center in Hastings, the Northern Service Center in West St. Paul and the Western Service Center in Apple Valley.
County libraries also offer Internet connections.
