ABOUT PICKLEBALL

Pickleball was invented in 1965 at a Washington state home by a couple of men who were trying to find a fun activity for their families. They used a badminton court, wood paddles and a perforated plastic ball. The name of the game came from a cocker spaniel named Pickles who would run off with the ball whenever he could. Terry Taylor gives lessons at Claret Park in Rosemount each Thursday. Advanced playing is 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Beginners' play is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The USA Pickleball Association governs the sport.
