After four years of fundraising, the South Metro Miracle League has enough money to build an adapted baseball field to give kids with disabilities a safer place to play. The new field will be wheelchair-accessible and have a cushioned artificial surface. The group celebrated its success recently with a ballgame at a regular field. Eight-year-old Maddy White took a swing at a pitch with support from her dad. Maddy, the youngest of Derick and Cara White's four children, was born with cerebral palsy and has spent many days watching her siblings play baseball. Before long, she and other kids with disabilities will have a field of their own.
