2 men sought in armed robbery of Columbia Heights liquor store

Last update: November 30, 2009 - 8:59 PM

Columbia Heights police and the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office are asking for help in finding two armed men who robbed Heights Liquor at about 8:15 p.m. on Saturday. One of the robbers confronted a clerk and then fired three shots with a snub-nosed revolver while the other robber went to a female clerk and ordered her to empty the registers.

No one at the store at 5225 University Av. NE. was hit by the gunfire, but authorities are concerned because the robbers “almost immediately resorted to firing shots to effect  their crime” and “appear capable of immediate violence.”

The men are described as being in their late 20s, about 5 feet 6 and wearing black hoodies. One wore a ski mask.

Anyone with information is asked to call 763-427-1212 .
