Brooklyn Park fire takes hours to control

Last update: November 20, 2009 - 9:28 PM

Firefighters in Brooklyn Park needed several hours on Friday to bring a fire under control in a commercial building that contained hazardous chemicals.

Several nearby streets including the westbound lanes of Brooklyn Boulevard were also closed.

Members of a hazardous materials team stood by as firefighters extinguished the fire, but no chemicals leaked or spilled, said Fire Chief Ken Prillaman.

No one was injured in the fire at the building on Xylon Ave., which houses a plating operation, and no cause has yet been determined.
