Charges: Brothers grew pot on Aitkin County land

Last update: November 6, 2009 - 8:19 PM

Two brothers from Mille Lacs County face charges of growing hundreds of marijuana plants on land owned by Aitkin County.

Nathan D. Bassett, 34, and Tytus A. Bassett, 31, both of Wahkon, Minn., were indicted by a federal grand jury on several charges including conspiracy to manufacture with intent to distribute marijuana.

The indictment alleges the brothers had a marijuana-growing operation between the spring and fall of 2009 that produced 428 plants.

Eight ounces of marijuana, two motorcycles and $6,000 in cash were seized in a search of their home.
