Brooklyn Center police are searching for four suspects wanted in connection with a shooting outside an apartment building Monday morning. The shooting arose from a fight about 11 a.m. between two women on the lawn of the Northbrook Apartments, said Capt. Mike Reynolds.
A 23-year-old man, who police identified as the boyfriend of one of the women, tried to stop the fight. That is when a second woman pulled out a gun and fired, hitting him in the chest, Reynolds said.
The victim was taken to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale where he was in critical condition Monday afternoon, Reynolds said.
Police were first called to a fight between the two women near Brooklyn Boulevard and 61st Avenue N. around 10:30 a.m. The fight had ended by the time police arrived. One of the women fled to the apartment complex across the street, the other left with a female acquaintance, police said.
About 30 minutes later, the woman and her acquaintance along with two men arrived at the apartment complex. The women involved in the original fight began sparring again until shots were fired.
The woman and her acquaintance left in one vehicle, the two men in another. Police were looking for an older, full-size, white Chevrolet Tahoe and a newer, red Dodge Charger, Reynolds said.
The incident did not appear to be random, Reynolds said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Brooklyn Center police at 763-569-3333.
