Visitors to regional parks in Shoreview and Vadnais Heights are urged to be cautious after two recent assaults -- the latest occurring Sunday morning, the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office said Monday.
About 8 a.m. Sunday, a woman using the trails in Vadnais-Snail Lakes Regional Park in Shoreview reported being attacked by a white man, approximately 40 years old, wearing a dark windbreaker and dark pants. She was not seriously injured. The assault reportedly occurred near County Road E and Interstate 694 in Shoreview.
The incident followed an attempted sexual assault Aug. 8 that was reported to have occurred about 2 miles from Sunday's incident at Vadnais-Sucker Lake Regional Park in Vadnais Heights. In that case, the suspect was described as a white man, 25 to 35 years old, with a medium build and short black hair.
Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Holli Drinkwine said investigators do not yet know whether the incidents are related. Neither victim saw her attacker clearly, she said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sheriff's Office at 651-266-9540 or emric@co.ramsey.mn.us.
