No one had been arrested as of Sunday evening in connection with a shooting outside a roller rink in Coon Rapids that left one person hospitalized in critical condition.

A second victim in the incident late Saturday was not seriously injured.

The victims, an 18-year-old man and a juvenile male, were shot in the parking lot of Cheap Skate Roller-Skating Rink, said Sgt. Kevin Smith. It was unclear which of those two was still in critical but stable condition at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, he said. The other victim suffered minor injuries.

About 11 p.m. Saturday, police found one victim in the parking lot of the rink in the 3000 block of Coon Rapids Boulevard. Police later learned that the second victim had been taken to Mercy Hospital by a citizen.

The motive in the shootings was unknown, although police said that before the shootings, a scuffle broke out inside the roller rink and some patrons were asked to leave.

On Sunday afternoon, the rink was open for business, with about 18 cars in the parking lot. A rink manager declined to comment.

Barbara DeRidder, of Michigan, was sitting outside the rink as her daughter and grandchildren attended a birthday party inside. The family had no knowledge of the shooting until informed by a reporter.

"Now I don't feel safe sitting here," DeRidder said. "Somebody's out there with a weapon. It just makes you feel uncomfortable."

Last December, several fights broke out in the rink and parking lot as about 200 to 300 people waited to attend a party there. Three people suffered minor injuries.
