A man suspected of robbing two banks this summer in the north metro suburbs has been arrested, authorities said.

The first holdup occurred June 26 at a U.S. Bank at 5250 Central Av. NE. in Columbia Heights, followed by another heist on July 15 at a TCF branch inside a Cub Foods at 256 57th Av. NE. in Fridley.

The suspect was arrested in Blaine on Thursday. He has not been charged. Authorities have not released his name.

In the Fridley robbery, police said the suspect was armed with a handgun and made off with between $2,000 and $3,000. Authorities have not disclosed how much money was taken in the Columbia Heights holdup.
