A truck struck and killed a bicyclist in Blaine on Monday morning, police said.

The 63-year-old Blaine man was northbound on Central Avenue about 8:55 a.m. when he was struck by a pickup truck while attempting to cross Clover Leaf Pkwy., said Chief Chris Olson.

The bicyclist died at the scene, Olson said.

The driver, a 40-year-old man from East Bethel, stopped at the scene. He has been cooperating with police, Olson said.

The chief described the intersection as "a pretty calm area that is not heavily traveled." The bicyclist, whose name has not been released, faced a stop sign, but the driver did not, Olson said.
