Fire struck a shed outside a home north of the Twin Cities and inflicted fatal burns on a 61-year-old resident, authorities said.

Stanley J. Orton, of rural Princeton died early Thursday, a little more than nine hours after the blaze broke out in the shed in the 5100 block of 160th Avenue in Princeton, according to the Hennepin County medical examiner's office.

The examiner's office characterized the fire as an accident, adding that Orton died from burns.

Authorities have yet to determine how the Wednesday afternoon blaze started in a shed on Orton's property west of Princeton.

Orton graduated from Princeton High School and was a truck driver in Elk River.
