ANOKA

Green Haven will host freestyle ski race

Sunday is the day for the Freestyle Cross Country Ski Race at Green Haven Golf Course. Two races will take place: a 1-kilometer for ages 12 and under and a 5K for those 13 and older. The 5K will have three age groups: 13-18, 19-34 and 34 and above.

Registration fees are $5 for skiers 12 and under and $10 for those 13 and up. Proceeds will go to Anoka High School’s Nordic Ski Team.

For more information, including registration forms, go to www.greenhavengolfcourse.com. Registration will also be available from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Sunday. The 1K will start at 1 p.m. and the 5K at 1:30.

The golf course is at 2800 Greenhaven Rd., Anoka.

Program explores role

of ‘Civil War Women’

Stories of Minnesota women during the Civil War will be the subject of an Anoka County Historical Society program March 6, at the Chomonix Golf Course clubhouse in Lino Lakes. The 7 p.m. event is part of the Historical Society’s Civil War series.

The clubhouse is at 700 Aqua Lane, Lino Lakes.

Wedding expo coming to Civic Center

Information on florists, photographers, entertainment and more will be available Saturday at a wedding expo at the Coon Rapids Civic Center. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with more than two dozen vendors on hand. Tickets are $5. The center is at 11155 Robinson Dr. Call 763-767-6522 for more information.

Brooklyn park

Meeting will discuss Bottineau light rail

A community meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Feb. 26 on the proposed Bottineau light rail line that would run from Minneapolis through Robbinsdale to Brooklyn Park. The meeting at the Roasted Pear, 9690 Colorado Lane, Brooklyn Park, will update residents and seek their input. Hennepin County Senior Engineer Brent Rusco, the Bottineau study manager, will discuss the project planning process, timeline, funding, route and station locations.
