Halloween dance for grades 5-7 is Oct. 25
A Monster Mash Teen Dance will be held Friday, October 25, for local youth in grades 5 to 7. The event, co-sponsored by the parks and recreation departments of New Hope, Crystal, Golden Valley and Robbinsdale, will run from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at the Crystal Community Center, 4800 Douglas Dr.
Youths who come in costume will get a treat and can participate in the costume contest. Winners will receive a Target gift certificate. Admission to the dance is $5 by Oct. 24 or $8 at the door.
Prostate cancer drugs discussed
A prostate cancer support group will meet next Wednesday, Oct. 23, at North Memorial Medical Center, 3300 Oakdale Av. N., Robbinsdale.
Rebecca Hodgson, oncology pharmacist at Humphrey Cancer Center, will discuss pros and cons of the drugs available to treat prostate cancer as well as new drugs in the pipeline.
The meeting will start at 5:30 p.m. in the Vance DeMonge classroom on the main floor plaza. The session is free, and wives and friends are welcome. For further information, call 612-388-3588.
Financial Advisory Council has three openings
The Robbinsdale Area school board has three openings on its Financial Advisory Council, which provides advice and support for the board and senior district administration. The seven-member council evaluates the district’s economic condition, helps develop budget assumptions and provides insights into the fiscal condition of the district, among other things. It presents an annual update to the board and the community.
Applicants for the volunteer positions should have a strong background in finance, economics and/or accounting, along with experience in school or business finance, and have no conflicts of interest. The application deadline is Oct. 31. New members will be appointed by majority vote of the school board in December.
