Earthiest features exhibits, activities

Celebrate Earth Day at Brooklyn Center EarthFest starting at noon on April 20.

The free event at Brooklyn Center High School, 6500 Humboldt Av., will feature more than 70 educational exhibits, gardening workshops and activities.

This year’s keynote speaker is Alaska resident Allison Warden, who will perform her show, “Calling All Polar Bears.”

Weekend ice show will be ‘Paradise’

Three Rivers Figure Skating Club and the Brooklyn Park and Champlin skating schools will present their annual skating show on Friday and Saturday at the Brooklyn Park Community Activity Center, 5600 85th Av. N.

The recital, “Skating in Paradise … Spring Break,” will feature more than 80 area skaters.

Performances are at 7 p.m. Friday and 1 and 6 p.m. Saturday. Presale tickets, available at the Community Activity Center, are $7 for adults ages 18 through 59; $4 for adults age 60 and over; and $4 for students ages 5-17. At the door, they’ll be $1 more.

Late April ice show will feature medalist

  • A pair of ice shows are coming up in the north metro this month (see news briefs to right). This Friday and Saturday, Three Rivers Figure Skating Club and the Brooklyn Park and Champlin skating schools will present shows at the Brooklyn Park Community Activity Center. Then, April 26-28, it will be time for the annual show at the Coon Rapids Ice Center. The last two days of that event will feature Agnes Zawadski (above), bronze medalist at this year’s U.S. Nationals.
