Man charged with molesting girl at Coon Rapids Wal-Mart
A man who allegedly molested a 7-year-old girl at a Coon Rapids Wal-Mart Friday night has been charged with second-degree criminal sexual conduct, the Anoka County Attorney's Office said.
Brian Keith Baker was still in custody Wednesday morning at the Anoka County Jail, where he has been held since he turned himself in to authorities on Monday.
According to the court complaint filed Tuesday, Baker, 36, was wearing a pullover sweatshirt and blue jeans when he approached the girl who was in the toy department. Baker kissed the girl and unzipped her pants between 7 and 7:30 p.m. and touched her for about five seconds.
Surveillance cameras did not record the act, but they did record a man matching the description of the suspect that the girl gave to investigators running out the door, getting into a vehicle and driving away.
Baker, of St. Francis, called another man shortly after the incident and confessed to kissing and touching a girl at the store at 13020 NW. Riverdale Blvd. That man convinced Baker to turn himself in.
Baker was wearing a hooded sweatshirt similar to one shown on the surveillance tape when he arrived at the Anoka County Jail at 12:35 a.m.
Baker, who has no previous convictions, is due in court on June 4. If he is found guilty, he could be punished by up to 25 years in prison.
