After more than a day of searching, divers on Monday afternoon recovered the body of a 21-year-old St. Paul man who drowned on Sunday after falling out of a canoe in Centerville Lake.

Officers from the Anoka County Sheriff's Office, the Centennial Lake Fire and Rescue Department and other agencies recovered the body of Thai Vang just after 4 p.m. near where he was last seen, said Anoka County Sheriff's Lt. Paul Lenzmeier.

Vang was one of two men who fell into the water at about 6:30 a.m. Sunday when their craft capsized. One was saved by anglers who saw the canoe overturn, but Vang went under and they could not rescue him in the weed-filled area.

The lake, part of the Rice Creek chain of lakes, is just west of the small town of Centerville.

The Midwest Medical Examiner's Office will determine the official cause of death.
