Searchers spent Sunday on the waters of Centerville Lake looking for a man who they believe drowned after falling out of a small boat in the lake, which is just west of the Anoka County town of Centerville.
Two men fell into the water at about 6:30 a.m. Sunday when their craft capsized, authorities said. One was saved by anglers who saw the boat overturn. The other, whose identity has not been released, disappeared.
After several hours of searching, officials said the likelihood of finding the man alive was slim. The search is being called a "recovery effort," said detective Justin Bloch of the Anoka County Sheriff's Office.
The lake was quiet Sunday afternoon after authorities closed the public boat access. Only a few boats dotted the water, all of them in search of the missing boater.
The beach, however, remained open, and many swimmers took advantage of it on the steamy day.
