Coon Rapids home fire kills woman while toddler away at grandma's

Last update: February 20, 2008 - 4:44 PM

A fire at a mobile home in Coon Rapids broke out late this morning and a woman inside was found dead, authorities said.

The woman was found by firefighters in the home in the 10000 block of Xeon Street in the Creekside mobile home park, said Assistant Fire Chief Guy Johnston.

The victim has yet to be positively identified, and fire investigators are trying to determine where the fire started and what caused it.

A 3-year-old who lives at the home was staying with a grandmother at the time of the blaze, Johnston said.

Mobile home park manager Roger Beyers, who has worked at the park for 27 years, said it's the first blaze there in 20 years.
