A rear-end crash in a construction zone of Interstate 35E in Lino Lakes during Thursday morning's rush hour killed a 20-year-old North Branch woman, authorities said.

The wreck happened about 6:20 a.m. on I-35E near County Road 14, according to the State Patrol. Both directions of the freeway were closed in the area until about 9:45 a.m.

The woman killed, Kristina Pinna, was riding in a car driven by her mother, Debra Hildebrand, 46, also of North Branch, the patrol said.

Hildebrand was taken to Regions Hospital in St. Paul; she was in stable condition.

Southbound traffic in the construction zone had come to a halt when the Hildebrand car was rear-ended by a semitrailer truck driven by Matthew H. Hauer, 35, of Red Wing, Minn.

The car hit another car in front of it and then spun into the northbound lanes, where it was struck on the passenger side by another semitruck.

Drivers of the two trucks and the other car were not hurt.
