Two people are in custody in connection with the fatal shooting last week of a 17-year-old girl in Brooklyn Park.

Police Inspector Todd Milburn said on Tuesday that an 18-year-old man and a juvenile male turned themselves in to police.

No other suspects were being sought, but the investigation continued Tuesday, with police asking that people call if they have information on the case.

About 11 p.m. Thursday, police responded to a report of a gunshot near the Huntington Place apartments and discovered the victim, Jennifer Scott of Champlin. She had been shot once in the head and died at the scene, near 73rd Avenue and Unity Lane N.

Police said last week that at least four people had been standing near Scott but fled as officers approached.

Milburn declined Tuesday to discuss a possible motive in the shooting.

According to state court records, the 18-year-old has active Hennepin County District Court cases alleging that he evaded police, possessed or sold small amounts of marijuana, and took part in fights or brawls.

Anyone with information about Thursday's shooting is asked to call police at 763-493-8222.
