Authorities said the 26-year-old Champlin man apparently died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Remains found in the Elm Creek Park Reserve in Dayton have been identified as those of Christopher Cox, 26, of Champlin.

The Hennepin County medical examiner's office said the body had been there for months and that he apparently died from a shotgun wound to the head. A man walking in the north end of the park found the remains in a wooded area Friday.
