A man dressed in what appeared to be a hazardous-materials suit attempted to break in to a northeast Minneapolis house where there was an apparent marijuana-growing operation, but his effort Thursday morning was foiled by the homeowners, police said.

Officers were called to a house in the 1100 block of NE. 5th Street around 9:30 a.m. The intruder ran away, but was arrested nearby, said Sgt. Jesse Garcia.

At first, police thought the house contained a meth lab because a "noxious odor" emanated from it, but once inside police discovered the marijuana operation, Garcia said.

Two people, who were in the house when the intruder came calling, were taken in for questioning, Garcia said.
