Minneapolis robbery suspect may face more felony charges

Last update: October 23, 2009 - 9:03 PM

A suspect charged with robbing a south Minneapolis business may be charged in two additional robberies, authorities said.

Minneapolis police on Friday said that Dwayne Murray, 46, was arrested and charged with simple robbery, a felony, for allegedly grabbing money from the cash register Monday at the Candy Jar, 3805 Cedar Av. S., and fleeing on foot. After an investigation, Murray was arrested Wednesday in Brooklyn Center.

Police said in a news release that investigators suspect Murray of committing at least two other robberies in south Minneapolis: Sept. 25 at Ebu Design Jewelry, 1530 46th St. E., and Oct. 17 at Lake Harriet Florist, 5011 Penn Av. S. In the latter, the robber held the owner at knife point and demanded money.

Police expect additional charges to be brought against Murray in connection with those cases and possibly others, the news release said.
