A suspect opened fire inside a downtown Minneapolis nightclub early Monday, injuring three people before fleeing, police said.

Shots rang out inside the Aqua Nightclub and Lounge at 400 1st Avenue N. about 1:45 a.m. as the club was packed with patrons who attended a rap concert. More than 200 tickets had been sold for the Lil Durk Live show at the club Sunday night.

By midmorning Monday, police had not announced any arrests and continued to investigate what led up to the shooting.

Three men were hurt. Officers found two of them inside the club suffering from gunshot wounds. They were taken to Hennepin County Medical Center with noncritical injuries. A third man who also suffered a gunshot wound arrived at the hospital in a private vehicle and was not critically hurt, police said.

Officers described it as a "chaotic scene," as they attempted to tape off the area and collect evidence. Investigators took statements from several people, a police spokesman said.

It was not immediately known what type of security was in place inside the club.

A woman who answered the phone at Aqua Monday said the club had no comment and would release a statement once the police investigation is complete. Police have said a report would not be available until Monday afternoon at the earliest.

Aqua is open from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Fridays through Sundays.

On Friday, the club was listed on Minnesota Department of Revenue's latest posting of establishments delinquent in paying taxes from liquor, wine and beer sales.
