Last update: June 8, 2009 - 11:56 PM

A Fridley man is accused of holding an 18-year-old woman against her will in a north Minneapolis apartment and forcing her to work as a prostitute for three days, according to public records.

Maurice Bernard White, 32, is charged with felony false imprisonment in Hennepin County District Court. He is being held in the Hennepin County jail in lieu of $75,000 bail.

According to the criminal complaint, Minneapolis police were called to an apartment building in the 1000 block of Knox Avenue N. on Thursday. The victim told police that she had borrowed money from White and that he told her she would have to work as a prostitute to pay him back, the charges said. She said that White drove her back and forth for three days between the apartment and a Brooklyn Center hotel where she would have sex with men. She said that she had not been allowed to leave, according to the charges.
