Polite robber hits bank near University of Minnesota.

A bank near the University of Minnesota has been robbed by a polite suspect, authorities say.

The TCF Bank at 615 Washington Av. SE. was held up by a man Sunday about 2:30 p.m., the FBI said.

He gave the teller a note demanding cash, and the teller put the money on the counter.

"Sorry, man," the robber said to the teller before hightailing it out the door, the FBI said.

The robber is described as white, about 5-foot-8, with a large build, and 35 to 45 years old. He was wearing a dark green cotton coat, blue jeans, a green stocking cap with a green stripe on the bottom, gloves and brown shoes.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the FBI at 612-376-3200, Minneapolis police or CrimeStoppers. A reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment.
