A man on a bicycle who grabbed three female University of Minnesota students in the genital area last week is still on the loose and molested two more students in the past two days.
The Minneapolis Police Department issued a crime alert Monday after the man groped a female student outside of a restaurant on the East Bank campus Sunday and another student in the West Bank area on Monday morning.
Thursday, the cyclist went on a groping spree around 8:30 a.m. on the U's West Bank campus. He rode up to a female student who was walking on the West Bank Plaza near Anderson Hall and "reached from behind and grabbed her genital area." Shortly after, he groped another student near 19th and Washington Avenues. That victim saw him ride up to a third woman and molest her.
Most of the cases have happened between 8 and 8:30 a.m., but one was reported at 12:30 p.m. and one at 6:30 p.m. Police believe the same man may be responsible for two similar incidents reported in December.
Extra patrols from Minneapolis and the University of Minnesota police departments have been added to the area.
The man is described as black, in his 30s or 40s, with a tall, thin build. Last week, he was wearing a green hat, brown coat, white athletic shoes and sunglasses, and was riding a red bicycle.
Anyone who has information about these incidents is asked to call university police at 612-624-2677.
