In anticipation of its big announcement of a "major concert," Target Center gave music fans a hint Wednesday night about the identity of the performer to be revealed at a news conference Thursday morning.

On Facebook and in a tweet, Target Center posted a photo of what looks like New York's Times Square. A digital display atop one of the buildings says, "Happy 1999!"

"Lots of guesses about our major concert announcement tomorrow at 10a … Here's your only clue!" the arena said in its social media posts.

Most of the people who commented on Target Center's Facebook page responded that the hint could mean just one thing: Prince was coming, ready to "party like it's 1999." The singer who created that hit song in 1982 has not played a big gig here since 2007, when he was at Target Center.

Besides Prince, there were other suggestions arising from the visual hint.

"The Rolling Stones played Target Center on February 15, 1999 (which is the last time that they played at the Target Center). Maybe it could be them (I'm hoping so, fingers crossed)," one person posted on Facebook.

For final verification, guessers will have to wait until 10 a.m. Thursday, when the concert details will be announced at a news conference, which is an unusual move for Target Center.
