A gunman opened fire in front of a gas station in Minneapolis' Jordan neighborhood Wednesday, missing the man with whom he had been arguing but wounding three bystanders, including a 14-year-old girl, police said.

The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived. He remains on the loose, according to police. The shooting occurred about 7:50 p.m. Wednesday.

The victims — a 28-year-old man, a 53-year-old man and the girl — were taken to North Memorial Medical Center, where they were treated for noncritical injuries, police spokesman John Elder said.

The three were shot when they were caught in a dispute between two men outside the Penn Gas gas station, 2606 Penn Av. N. Elder declined to provide further details about the incident.

Police are scrambling after a new wave of violence over the summer left dozens wounded and at least three dead.

Authorities are also investigating another shooting earlier in the week in the area of West Broadway and Dupont Avenue. Police say two men, ages 20 and 22, were wounded when gunfire broke out about 6:15 p.m. Monday.

No arrests have been made.
