No charges will be brought linked to an allegation of a rape near the University of Minnesota, the Minneapolis police announced Wednesday.

The case lacks evidence, said department spokesman Scott Seroka.

"The case is closed with no charges, as there is no evidence that a crime occurred," he said, reading a prepared statement.

A 25-year-old woman told police early Monday that she had been raped in an apartment at The Knoll, a complex at 1101 University Av. SE. She was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center, according to a police report.
